Say goodbye to clogged showers, grimy toilets and misted up mirrors!  Welcome to Bathroom Boutique’s ultimate guide to cleaning, maintaining and caring for your bathroom.  Visually, there’s nothing worse than a grime covered toilet, limescale choked showers or misted up mirrors. Read on to discover great tips to extend the life of your bathroom and keep it gleaming. Extend the lifetime of your shower:   Descale a shower head With regular hard water flowing through it, a shower head can quickly clog up with limescale and slow down or stop working. Here are 2 tips to bring your shower head back to new:

  1. Unscrew the head and leave it to soak for a few hours in a large quantity of diluted vinegar. You may need to scrub ingrained limescale with a stiff brush. Rinse the shower head well and reattach.
  1. Fill a plastic bag with undiluted white wine vinegar, place it over the shower head and secure it in place with a rubber band. Leave to soak overnight and then scrub the face with a toothbrush.

Maintaining gleaming shower enclosures Prevent limescale build up by wiping water droplets from the glass enclosure of your shower with a window cleaning tool.  Keep it in the bathroom to encourage the rest of the family too! Caring for shower curtains Most vinyl, synthetic, cotton and hemp shower curtain liners can be cleaned in a washing machine using a mild detergent. Air dry them to avoid mildew appearing. To avoid black mould pull the curtain closed when not in use, so water can’t sit in the folds and stagnate.  The ultimate way to clean your toilet  For every day stains, sprinkle some bicarbonate of soda around the rim and scrub with a toilet brush. For more serious limescale stains, bail out the water to reveal the stain. Make an equal mixture of borax powder and vinegar. Cover the marks with the mixture, leave for a couple of hours and then remove with a stiff brush. Keeping mirrors clear even when the bathroom is full steam ahead! Spraying a small amount of shaving foam onto the mirror and spreading it evenly over the surface and wiping it off with a micro porous cloth after a few minutes will keep your mirror steam free for a couple of weeks. There are new demister mirrors on the market which heat up internally so that water doesn’t settle on them, this keeps your mirror crystal clear even in the steamiest of rooms.
